The back story:
In mid August, I had a surgery to remove some dead bone off the front of my tibia and plastic surgery to put a muscle flap over the tibia to protect it and replace the skin that was too damaged to reuse. (I've been dealing with the bone disease since early childhood.) By the end of October, I was walking around unassisted and looking forward to getting back on the boat again. The skin graft over the muscle flap was not a 100% healed, tho.

Then comes November 4th, a young lady coming down the road towards us crossed completely over the middle stripes and takes out the car ahead of us. Thinking it would be a head-on collision, I dodged left to avoid it but the other two cars managed to serve a bit at the last second. This caused the oncoming car to rotate back into the road and we caught the rear end of her car. Down through the ditch and we t-boned a tree. And yeah, broke my leg under the muscle flap. I get a cast put on but they have to cut a window in it so that we can continue to address the skin graft healing. So that's why there is a "Ace" bandage wrapped around my cast.

Wow that sounds like a mess. Hope you have a not eventful recovery and can get back to the boat. Have a safe holiday season.

Julio cruces kid. Do what the docs tell you and get fixed. Then start making up for lost time. There's nothing to do and nowhere to go right now North of you in any event. Time for some New Year's resolutions.

We were going to the Bahamas February 2023 but that's now postponed until 2024. I'm still looking at one more surgery to install a rod in my leg to replace the removed bone and prevent another break later. Unknown timing but shortly after that, the Admiral and I are heading south to the keys and Dry Tortugas for Spring before returning to Pensacola for a get together with some sailing friends.

I should clarify. June is a meeting with a bunch of drunks who have a sailing problem. Mmm Beer

". . . as your new Commodore . . . I'd like to lay out the plan for our Yacht Club to become known as a sailing club, rather than a drinking club with a sailing problem . . ." (New Commodore of the St. Thomas Yacht Club at the opening of the Rolex Regatta Awards ceremony before nearly 500 drunken sailors, Windham Sugar Bay Resort Ballroom, March 2003). He got booed.
