Ahoy. Attached is a photo of our masthead while sailing downwind with the asym spinnaker. In this configuration we're using a genoa with a 45' 4" luff, and the top roller of the furling system is about a foot down from the top of the furler extrusion.

Our storm jib has a total luff length (the sail plus two wire rope extensions) of 46' 3". That moves the top furler roller all the way up as shown by the orange arrow. In that position, the shackle connection to the jib (circled in red) chafes and snags on the spin halyard.

Has anyone modified the spin halyard configuration or set up something different to avoid this problem? Or do you all keep the top furler roller short of full hoist like we have in this photo?

Thanks. Cheers.

We added one of these to the jib halyard. Not sure how you are not getting halyard twist, with furler.

I would shorten one of the wire extensions on storm jib and drop it down a little.

Always verify the spin halyard is on outside of furler.
