Suggestions a new head sail roller furling

Greetings to all -

Just recently posted our purchase of Montego, hull #121. The PO (also the original owner) did a lot of racing with a lot of hank on sails. In short, we want/need a new head sail roller furling in the picture ASAP. For us, hank-ons got old real fast!

Our former Sabre 30 had a Pro-furl furling that was very reliable, however, I welcome T-37 members' input and suggestions of brands and formats that have proven to be a good fit. I'm assuming a common size is 150. We're sailing out of Annapolis right now but plan on stretching our sea legs up and down the east coast in the near future.

I think that many of the main brands are very good. I have a Schaefer 2100 unit that has been very reliable for the last 16 years +/-......No problems at all.
I have heard good things about Harken, Pro Furl and Furlex as well.

I have a Furlex system. Performance has been flawless.

Betty Lou has a ProFurl, and it has worked well for us. We just had a new 135 made for her and like it a lot. We have pretty consistent 15 -20 kt winds on Summer afternoons here on the Columbia, and usually reef the main at around 16 - 18 kts and roll in the genoa a bit. With our old 150 we'd be rolling it up sooner or we'd start getting overpowered. I'm having a standard jib made up as well, because I usually sail with rookie crew, and it's easier on them to manage a smaller heads'.

we installed a Harken MK IV Unit 2 a few years ago and we're very pleased with it. I think most likely all the mainstream furlers are a good choice. we choose ours because our Marina is a dealer and tester for harken.

I have Harken now and it works just fine. I had a Sea Furl before and cannot think why I changed it out---it popped out some bearings, but these were easily replaced and it worked fine. Both of them worked fine. One thing: no matter what brand you use make sure you install a halyard restrainer at the top of your mast below the sheave exit to prevent the halyard from winding around the head stay. Schaefer makes a simple one and there are others. Cheap insurance for a very nasty issue.

The T37 is at the cusp of a size change in the furlers. I would reccomend going with the larger system. Had luck installing Furlex (the 300 has plenty of reserve), Harken 2, Schaeffer 2100, Profurl to many boats. The Furlex 300 has been on Vixen for 5 years now and has performed flawlessly. The halyard restrainer allows less accuracy in sail luff length and prevents halyard wrap
