Garboard plug question

Has anyone installed or have a garboard plug in their T37? I could not find anything in searching here, but could swear I remember a discussion about it. Anyway boat on hard, bilge pump shot, I don't want to replace it right now and it just seems like a good idea, also for winter storage?

I have one on mine and pened it up in april with nothing coming out. mark #337

Left mine at Indiantown last summer, the general opinion of the locals was ,water will get in somewhere,a garboard plug is safer.
So I got an angle drill in the deepest part of the sump and drilled out,then from outside hole sawed a one inch hole,for last summer I put a sink drain screen in to prevent insects and mice. Then when launch time came I fitted a bronze flange and plug from Hamilton marine. No more worries.

Did you go port or starboard? How much material was there to drill through?

Julio Christmas! Go look at Clay123's site. I thought I was digging in, but I'm seriously humbled.

Had to laugh, though. At first I thought the vegan tofu photo was some kind of boat rot thing. I even said "wow" out loud and thanked my lucky stars. Didn't read until the 2nd visit to the site.

I have seen things that looked like that come out of boats.
